disease, and there is no doubt that if I had then been permitted to leave the Colony my health would have been restored, but I was kept at close work for another two months in the tropics, with the result that my health has now been irretrievably shattered, and I am unable to continue my duties.

I submit that under the above circumstances I

an entitled to the additional allowance of fifteen sixtiethe

of my salary on the ground that my health has been materi- ally impaired in the discharge of my duties without my default.

I am aware that this allowance and the pension taken together cannot exceed 50/60ths of my salary and Omoluments, but under the circumstances I do claim the fullest allowance both as regards pension and otherwise

that it is possible for me to receive. I have done my

utmost for the Government under circumstances of extreme

difficulty as detailed by me in my previous letters. My health has been completely ruined by my devotion to duty,

coupled with the harsh and almost inhuman treatment I

received when I became 111.
